A Great American

When duty calls there are a few great Americans who volunteer to give up their time, and put their lives on hold to answer that call. One such American is my father. This blog is for all of you who know my dad, and for those of you who want an inside look at a non-military persons experiences in Iraq. I will post pictures as they come in and relay stories as often as I can.

Living in Trailer Park Paradise

Well after being thoroughly annoyed by the lack of organization the military was showing, dad is now in Iraq. He sat around in Kuwait for longer than he had originally thought he would be there. Once he finally got a flight into Baghdad he found himself waiting once again for a flight. He stayed in a room full of guys at the Baghdad airport waiting to get a helicopter ride to the base he is going to be spending the majority of his time at. Getting little sleep at the airport because of the constant yelling of updates to flight times, he got a helicopter ride to his base. He is now comfortably living on his base a little ways outside of Baghdad. This base is much nicer than the base he lived in last time he was there. He is living in trailer type housing, which is actually very nice because it is air conditioned (much appreciated in the 130 degree temp) and he is the only one in his trailer. He received his satellite phone once on the base, so he can now call home every day. I have not talked to him because I have been at work, but I am told he is staying busy building things like a clothes rack for his room. The internet connection has not yet been realised, but he said they are working on getting him internet connection in his room for his laptop. Once connected to the rest of the world through cyberspace, we will hopefully be receiving some pictures. If any of you would like to drop him a line you can by emailing him at Chandlerd6@hotmail.com . I am sure he would much appreciate an email, and would enjoy reading them in his free time.
